Under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, the National Office for the Fight Against Drugs and Drug Addiction is organizing the official ceremony for World Drug Day. The event will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the “Abdelatif Rahal” International Conference Centre (CIC), under the theme: “One Year Since the Launch of the National Strategy… Together, We Rise to the Challenge.”
This occasion holds a particular national significance, as it serves as a milestone to evaluate and review the outcomes of a full year of implementing the National Strategy for the Prevention of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (2025–2029). It will assess the progress achieved in realizing its goals and programs, thereby consolidating accomplishments and mapping out future interventions.
Furthermore, this ceremony provides an opportunity to highlight the efforts made by various sectors and national bodies in prevention and enforcement. It will shed light on the results achieved in countering the drug phenomenon and mitigating its impacts, while enhancing community awareness regarding the health, social, and security risks of this scourge, and reinforcing a culture of shared responsibility and collective mobilization.
The event program will feature a series of awareness-raising, evaluative, and honorary initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of prevention and strengthening community engagement in anti-drug efforts. A key highlight will be the honoring of the security services responsible for the most outstanding operational breakthrough in the fight against drugs, in recognition of their dedication to protecting society and dismantling illicit trafficking networks.
This ceremony reaffirms Algeria’s steadfast commitment to the continuous implementation of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. It underscores the strengthening of participatory action among various sectors, institutions, and civil society actors to protect the nation, instill a culture of prevention, and successfully meet the challenges of the upcoming phase.
