mn-06-05-2026-0

Algiers, May 6, 2026 – The Director General of the National Office for the Fight Against Drugs and Drug Addiction (ONLCDT), Dr. Tarek KOUR, alongside the President of the High Islamic Council, Dr. Mabrouk Zaid El-Khair, presided today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the High Islamic Council, over the opening of a scientific seminar entitled: The Danger of Drugs and Their Impact on the Future of the Nation.”

The event brought together a distinguished group of academics, representatives of security services, and various ministerial sectors. The primary objective is to formulate a unified national approach to confront this serious scourge.

In this context, Dr. Tarek KOUR reviewed the technical and field efforts deployed by the Office. He highlighted that organizing this seminar in cooperation with a prestigious advisory and scientific body such as the High Islamic Council aims to develop a forward-looking vision. This vision is designed to shield the nation’s future from plots targeting its youth and vital energy.

For his part, Dr. Mabrouk Zaid El-Khair emphasized the crucial role of religious reference and spiritual values in building an ethical “protective wall” to prevent young people from falling into the quagmire of addiction.

Participants in the seminar concluded that combating the drug phenomenon is no longer limited to security measures alone. Instead, it requires a unified national approach where the roles of all institutional and social actors are fully integrated.
